United Way Of Greater Rochester Wraps Up Annual Fall Appeal

Autumn campaign surpasses its goal

Rochester, NY – United Way of Greater Rochester has wrapped up its annual Fall Campaign and today, leaders announced they surpassed their fundraising goal of $3 million, raising a total of $3,005,088. The money raised counts as “first dollars in” toward United Way’s Spring Campaign.

“We are honored that the wonderful businesses that run fall United Way campaigns were able to come together to rally around helping our community,” said Kathleen Whelehan, Senior Vice President of Resource Development at United Way. “It’s important to remember that no matter how much you give, when you support United Way you join forces with tens of thousands of fellow donors—and, together, we can create solutions as big as any challenges our community faces.”

Many of those who participate in United Way’s fall appeal are regional companies headquartered outside the Rochester area. The State Employees Federal Appeal (SEFA), and the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) also hold their campaigns at the same time, as part of United Way's Fall Campaign.

Tom Judson, Chairman and CEO of Pike Company, is the 2007 United Way/Red Cross Campaign Chair who led the fall campaign effort. Rochester Postmaster Karl Anderson is chairing the CFC appeal and Peter Pecor, the regional administrator for the New York State Department of Labor, is chairing the SEFA campaign.

United Way of Greater Rochester funds programs that ensure long-term change in our community. The programs are grouped into three main donor interest areas: Student Readiness and Success, Strengthening People and Families, and Supporting People In Crisis. United Way also serves as a hub for volunteers—linking them with projects across our community.
