Change started with me last year...
...when my family and I decided to get help so that I could improve my skills and get out into the workforce. Thanks to a program offered by Rochester Rehabilitation and LDA Life and Learning Services I had help finding a volunteer position at the hospital. I also learned important job skills that helped me get my current job as an assistant at a day care. This program has given me the resources to go through a major life transformation – getting a job – and has helped me become more independent.
Disability Services
United Way is addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities while working with other organizations to help the Rochester community become more inclusive of individuals with disabilities. Community Fund investments are going toward Transportation Services Programs to increase opportunities for community involvement, and Transition Coaching Programs to provide support and direction during key life transitions. Your support for the United Way Community Fund helps people with disabilities maximize their independence as fully engaged members of our community.
